Alethea woke under a light blanket. She felt cool and calm until she remembered the storm and its aftermath. Opening her eyes, she realized two things. She was no longer dressed, and she was in the captain’s cabin. The boat rocked and sounds filtered in from the outside. They didn’t sound frantic, just busy.

Holding the blanket to herself, Alethea sat up. Tendrils of fog curled around her, muting the sunlight. Memories of the healing she’d done filtered through. The sailor’s leg, then Darian. And then darkness. She was certain more people needed healing. Alethea swung her legs over the side of the bed. Her initiate's gown hung from a hook in the wall. Alethea dressed quickly, but before she could open the door, someone knocked.

"Oh, good, you're up." Emelye smiled as Alethea opened the door. "I hope you don't mind, but I thought it best to not let you rest in your wet chiton. Anyway, Captain Kolivas and High Psara Perroa would like to see you."

"The High Psara…” Alethea remembered he’d been hurt as well, but she hadn’t healed him. “He is well?"

Emelye turned away and took Alethea’s hand. The warmth of the young woman’s grasp contrasted with the cool wood beneath Alethea’s bare feet. The dense mist tickled her skin as they crossed the deck. Alethea breathed in the cool air, feeling the strength of The Lord returning to her. She looked over the railings, but mist obscured her view of the horizon. The sailors buzzed about. Eramaus was helping to saw off the broken bits of the main mast. Another knot of sailors sat on the deck, the tattered sail spread between them as they mended it. She smiled to herself, imagining Eramaus helping them. He'd always scoffed and said mending was woman's work.

Emelye led her down the stairs. There was no fear now. It felt natural to go closer to the water this way. It was certainly better than being in the water. Alethea pushed such thoughts from her head as she descended. Emelye led her behind the stairs to a door that was almost directly below the captain’s chambers above. She knocked on it and it was soon opened by the captain. He thanked Emelye and beckoned Alethea in.

Round windows let in shadowed light from outside. Mediki Catena sat on a bed, the High Psara Perroa's head in her lap. She stroked his hair. At her feet sat Darian. He leaned against the priestess's leg, while the High Psara's hand rested upon his shoulder.

The priestess looked up and then bowed her head. "Lady Alethea..."

Alethea shook her head as she knelt before them. "I am but Alethea."

The priestess smiled and reached a hand to her shoulder. "Whether you are Lady now or not, you were when you healed. Captain Kolivas and Squire Eramaus have told me how the Light worked through you last night."

Alethea looked to the High Psara and then back to the priestess. The other mediki had tried to heal High Psara Perroa, with more training and knowledge of prayers than she.
